On the day that Zac Efron’s No. 1 movie ‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax’ opened in theaters, the 24-year-old was busy celebrating in a special way. The actor took time out of his day to read ‘The Lorax’ to kids in New York.

According to the The Press Association, 300 students congregated at the New York Public Library for the event, which was held on Read Across America Day on March 2. Zac read from the popular Dr. Seuss tale that has since been adapted into an animated film in which he voices the character Ted.

“As a kid, I remember thinking, ‘What would it be like to go on this big adventure and learn what the Once-ler knows?’” Zac said. “Now here I am, two decades later, voicing Ted in ‘Dr Seuss’ The Lorax.’”

He continued, “It’s an honor to not only be a part of this movie, but to work with the National Education Association’s Read Across America to inspire the love of reading in millions of kids.”

Zac recently took part in a PSA for Read Across America Day with his ‘Lorax’ co-stars, Taylor Swift, Danny Devito, Ed Helms and Betty White. ‘Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax’ opened at No. 1 at the box office, raking in $70.7 million this past weekend. Way to go, Zac!

The stars of the Lorax are shining the spotlight on NEA’s Read Across America. The cast, Taylor Swift, Zac Efron, Betty White, Danny DeVito, Ed Helms and Rob Riggle are this year’s honorary Co-chairs and took time from their busy schedule to record two promotional videos for NEA. Zac Efron will join NEA President Dennis Van Roekel in New York for the March 2 national kickoff.

The night of Demi Moore’s Jan. 16 911 call was even scarier than it sounded.

“Everyone thought she was going to die,” a source tells the new Us Weekly of the emergency, in which Moore, 49, collapsed, and was “convulsing” after smoking an unknown substance.
It was the culmination of months of self-destructive partying (and drug use) for the newly single star, struggling to make sense of things as she nears 50 without husband Ashton Kutcher, from whom she split late last year.

“She’s been really down, and she’s surrounding herself with young people to make her feel better,” an insider tells Us of Moore, who’s been obsessed for years with staying young and thin.

“She’s been mixing pills and Red Bulls, among other things,” another source says.

One of Moore’s favorite young stars to party with — and flirt with — is daughter Rumer Willis’s longtime friend Zac Efron, 24, a hunk nine years younger than Kutcher, 33.

A wired, gaunt Moore “tracked down” the High School Musical star at a party in L.A.’s Venice neighborhood, an insider tells Us. “She seemed out of her mind at this party.”

A Justin Bieber fan site recently featured photos of the Teen Dream alongside Disney heart-throb Zac Efron. The pics’ caption asked JB’s fans to comment on which star looked hotter in the “Endless Summer.” No, the Biebs and Zac Efron haven’t teamed up to co-star in a remake of the 1966 surfing classic. But they are wearing identical Endless Summer shirts. So which teen idol looks sexier?

Whether Justin Bieber or Zac Efron are into riding the big waves is unknown, but they both look beach-ready in their Endless Summer tank tops. As you can see here, Justin looks lithe and lean in his, while Zac looks super buff complete with bulging biceps. Oddly enough, both are also sporting gray knit caps. Not exactly typical beach attire. Maybe they’re planning to audition for a remake of the old Arnold Schwarzengger-Danny DeVito comedy, Twins. As to which one was considered hotter by the site’s visitors, the answer to that should be a no-brainer, since the question appears on a Justin Bieber website. Or not. Although the Biebs won by a very slight margin, many beliebers preferred Zac Efron. And many of those who did felt darned guilty about it.

“i love justin………” wrote one, “but zac just wears it better cuz hes got big muscles.”

“ii lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvv justin soooo much….,” declared another guilt stricken belieber, “but zac in all honesty.”

Others didn’t bother to apologize for “betraying” their idol.

“Omg,” another belieber enthused, “i think justin will wanna go for zac himself. So, zac. Sowie justin. :/ ”

Still others decided to remain diplomatically undecided:

So, there you have it. Beliebers will always be true—or most of the time anyway—but many of them seem to prefer Zac Efron’s more ripped, muscular physique.

Christoph Waltz wants to head behind the camera. The Carnage star plans to direct get after he wraps filming Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. He says working in Los Angeles has motivated him. “The fact that you can apply yourself to getting your own projects off the ground makes it more promising and more proactive.” As for the script, which he wrote — “It’s ready,” he says.

Zach Braff riffed on the tradition earlier this month. “My New Year’s resolution is to be more like the honey badger,” he joked via Twitter, after posting a link to the viral, funnily narrated YouTube video featuring the fearless mammal.

Chris Evans plans to get more limber. “It’s been, like, the same new year’s resolution for, like, a decade, but I really think I’m going to do it this year. I always say I should do more yoga,” he told Details. “Or do yoga—more would mean I do some. I’ve done none. But I always want to do yoga because I’m getting old. Nerves are getting pinched every other day, and I really just gotta get more limber.”

Kirstie Alley’s keeping it positive. “My resolution is to shatter negative elements in my life and revel in the ones that help me flourish…with the ability to differentiate,” she tweeted.

Actor Zac Efron doesn’t like attending parties and says that he doesn’t fancy the antics of many of his peers and would rather stay in.

“I just don’t have fun at clubs,” showbizspy.com quoted Efron, 24, as saying.

“I don’t know how people do that stuff. It’s a bunch of people you don’t know, a lot of intoxicated people running around that are sort of obnoxious or want something from you. I don’t know how people have fun in those scenarios,” he added.

The 24-year-old actor – who has been single since splitting with long-term girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens last year – has marked the turning of the year in a number of memorable ways but says none compare to the intimate evening he had with his loved ones.

Asked for his best New Year’s Eve, he said: “There’s one I can remember with my close family. It was perfect, but then I’ve also been on an island somewhere watching fireworks on a pontoon in Hawaii.”

Despite being single, there are several famous women who Zac finds attractive.

He said: “I really like Eva Mendes, I think she’s gorgeous and she’s got a great personality.

“Penelope Cruz is really cool. I got really star-struck when I saw her at the Academy Awards. She was so cool, she was walking around the party barefoot. I thought, ‘God, you’re beautiful.’ ”
